First off, I love the original Beauty Blender. That little pink puff of magic totally changed the makeup game for me. I’m so in love with that little thing that whenever Beauty Blender comes out with some other version I’m just compelled to try it.So today we’re going to take a look at the Blotterazzi by Beauty Blender.
I bought mine at Sephora for $20 during the VIB Rouge Event. I don’t have an issue with needing to blot, but I thought it would be a good product to try and review. This is intended to be a reusable blotting sponge for touch-ups on the go. The sponges are used dry so that they stay “thirsty” to soak up excess oil. (BTW, their words not mine. I kind of hate that they say it’s thirsty.)
I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be geared toward oilier complexions, but there’s a flaw there. It absolutely does not help with oil. Nope, not one bit. So, if you have issues with oil it looks like blotting sheets are still your best bet.
However, this is actually pretty awesome for drier complexions. I have desert level dry skin and this is now a purse essential for me. It’s great for:
- Blotting away sweat during humid weather
- As a puff for fixing/reapplying product
- Adding more moisture to the skin by wetting the sponge with either water or facial mist and dabbing dry areas.
I just treat it as the travel friendly version of the original beauty blender. It’s made from the same material (so it still feels the same), but it’s flat. You also clean it the same way with whatever soap you prefer. I personally try to wash all my sponges daily (more likely every other day), but I recommend you wash this one daily no matter what. I use mine a ton throughout the day and when not in use it lives in my purse. Since the compact is ventilated on the bottom, I feel like dust or random debris in my bag could get into the compact and on the sponges.
So like most products, it really depends on your personal needs as to whether this works out for you.
